Bloomberg Market Concepts

For students looking for a competitive edge in business, finance and economics and those who want to develop their business awareness, skills and experience. On this challenging course you will complete the Bloomberg Market Concepts certification (BMC), an eight module course that will give you a solid foundation on a Bloomberg Terminal used by investment bankers all over the world. You will develop essential skills needed to go on to study business at a higher level.

Overview

Using the Bloomberg Terminal computer software system, designed for professionals in the finance sector to monitor and analyse real-time financial market data- this course is a fantastic opportunity to work with this world-renowned system. Participants will explore a variety of different elements of business including marketing, management and leadership and ethics. Students will use the Bloomberg Terminals to conduct their own research which they will collate and present to a panel of judges on the final day of their course. They also have the opportunity to gain the BMC qualification in using the terminals. Lessons and workshops will be complemented by visits to relevant places of interest such as the Bank of England and a business university. London is also home to the Bloomberg European Headquarters- the first wholly owned and designed Bloomberg building in the world- our students will visit this exciting destination as part of this programme.

Programme Outcomes

Use the Bloomberg Terminals to either complete a business research project or complete the Bloomberg Market Concepts certification.

Understand how to apply to university in the UK.

Activities and Excursions

Half-day excursions have academic and cultural learning objectives that will inform and inspire the academic programme as well as familiarising students with one of the world’s greatest cities. Evening activities are energetic, social & fun – highlights; a West End Musical, Disco and a comedy workshop. Weekend Excursions are stimulating with Saturday a mix of exploration and learning whereas Sunday is more relaxing.

STEM and English

For students who are interested in how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) can be applied in the real world, using Central London as the platform! Students combine STEM with English to improve their accuracy and fluency in an engaging environment. Develop the skills you need to be a world-class STEM professional – thinking critically, working in teams, and linking theory with experimentation.

Overview

Students will take part in interactive lab-based lessons, demonstrations, and science-based English lessons as well as visits to local places of relevant interest based on themes represented in London, like Film and Sport. Interactive Lab-Based lessons including a dissection, combustion of chemicals and designing a car. Visit destinations may include the Science Museum, Olympic Park and London Film Museum. English lessons will develop each of the four skills as well as knowledge of scientific vocabulary and grammar necessary to present their ideas in appropriate English.

Branding & Advertising

Our Branding & Advertising course covers the areas that underpin the visual creative arts industry. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of visual communication and design for branding, advertising, and art direction.

Areas of focus include layouts, composition, typography, colour work, the relationships between photography and illustration and how all these unite to give students the tools of a persuasive visual communicator.

London Academic Explorer

This premium course is a great choice for students who are keen to focus on their inter-cultural communication, presentation and collaborative skills. Students will combine demanding lessons with exploring the great city of London – an ideal combination for dynamic and enthusiastic learners.

Overview

This is a demanding academic programme, focusing on intercultural communicative success in English, with outcomes focused on the successful communication of group work objectives through the acquisition of presentation skills. The course takes place at the Guildhouse School London, on Bloomsbury Square.

Lessons & Group Work

The Academic Programme is designed to have a dramatic effect on the student’s performance in English. Features of the programme are:

  • Project based format where students work in groups exclusively in English from breakfast to bed-time
  • Focus on academic note-taking to prepare them for Higher Education in English
  • Focus on spoken performance – skills to deliver success in later academic and professional life
